Seniors you will be missed. Remember to turn in your final project along with your narrative explaining what three components/characteristics of the artist you incorporated. I will have these projects graded and up into in-touch by the end of school so you can swing by and pick up your art work. Have a great summer!

Reminder, seniors you have until Wednesday to turn in all your work! For those who are not seniors you only have until Friday, for Monday we do our critique. I had one senior finish today, keep up the good work!

May 31st

Great job getting those reports in. Now finish up your note-cards and begin sketching. What are your projects going to look like? What medium are you going to use? What materials do you need me to get for you? These are questions that you need to know before you may begin on your final project. I am excited to see your ideas!

May 30th

Great start on those reports yesterday! Today the reports are due. When you are finished you may begin on your note card. Here I want you to write down a minimum of three things you like about your artists work/style, which will later feed into your project. For those who finish these two steps I want you to start sketching and to tell me what kind of materials you will need to make your sketches happen.

May 29th

Only a few weeks left till the end of school, lets start our final project! Click here for step by step instructions, and remember, these artworks that you create will have elements found in the artist of your choice, this is not copying their work. I want you to find characteristics/similarities with your artist and incorporate a few of them into your own work. So in the end you will have created artwork inspired by their pieces!

My Alex Katz report:
From May 28, 2012
My Alex Katz inspired painting:

From May 28, 2012
I noticed things about Alex Katz work. The subject matter were generally people (friends and family or his wife Ada). I couldn't see his brush strokes, things seemed realistic but simplified (no photo-realism), generally large scaled paintings, and use of color (explained in powerpoint). I tried to incorporate them into my painting of my brother! (see powerpoint for breakdown)

Also keep in mind, if you picked an artist who paints but you want to draw you can! pick out elements of your artists work that you do want to incorporate (subject matter, meaning, brushstrokes/pencil marking etc...) Have fun with this project!
